How can the answer be improved? L’Engle joined the faculty of the Population Health Sciences Department in the School of Nursing and Health Professions in 2015. L’Engle applies her social and behavioral health science expertise to developing health interventions and research programs focused on reaching underserved populations in the U.S. And globally.
What are the basic principles of health insurance? Who are the uninsured? It is critical that public health professionals be able to answer these questions and understand the basic functions that comprise the U.S.
Health care system. This course will help students answer these questions through an introduction to health systems and policy, including the delivery, quality and costs of health care for individuals and populations. The course will also examine the structure, processes and outcomes of health services, financing, organization, outcomes and accessibility of care.KINE 5372: Introduction to Epidemiology Have you ever read Hot Zone or watched Contagion? Did you follow the Ebola crisis? Have you ever wanted to know how the “disease detectives” on the front lines of outbreaks were able to control the spread of disease and keep us safe? If so, take this class as the first step to learning about disease control and related research—and perhaps starting your own career as a disease detective! This course will introduce you to the concepts and methods used in real-life disease outbreaks by providing an overview of epidemiological principles.

Who is the target audience?
What are the program’s goals? How will the program be implemented?
What are the program’s intended outcomes and how will they be measured? How will results be used to improve the program or apply for funding? Program evaluation is the systematic application of scientific methods to assess the design, implementation, or outcomes of a program. In this course, program planning and evaluation are introduced as inter-related activities.
