Slot 1 in a7iii suddenly no longer reads Woke up yesterday after using all 3 of my cards the day before and suddenly they will no longer read in slot 1. Nothing was done to the camera, just sat in the bag over night. Cards were only inserted into computer and files copied and then ejected. The Sony a7III has two memory card slots and these are clearly numbered as slot 1 and slot 2. Slot 1 is that fastest slot and this supports UHS-II cards like the Sony SF-G Series. Slot 2 is the slowest slot and this supports UHS-I cards like the SanDisk Extreme Pro.
I thank you for your response. My computer is only 1 year old, and I think it is capable of performing the task. It is a HP Pavilion. I am not very computer savey though. I will try your suggestion with my SD card and my camera, I think I can manage that. But, the Pro Duo stick belongs to someone else and a different style of camera. Oh, and my SD card has been read by this computer in the past.
Is there some reason that you can think of why my computer would no longer be able to do this now? Could it be broken somehow? I just bought a HP Pavilion g7-1139 and could not have been more disappointed to find that a high quality Sony SD card would not work in my new computer and I could not view or download any photos.
I just finished a session with HP support and was told that my computer is not compatible with all SD cards and I had to re-install some program they suggested. Not acceptable to have to do this on a brand new computer and I am not one bit happy about this. I am considering returning this computer and getting a different brand. An SD card???

Close the cover. Eject the memory card. Open the memory card cover, then lightly push the memory card once. Note.
Operation with all memory cards is not assured. Confirm the direction of the memory card. If you forcibly insert the memory card in the wrong direction, the memory card, memory card slot, or image data may be damaged. To ensure stable operation of the memory card, we recommend that you use this camera to format any memory card being used with this camera for the first time. Note that formatting will erase all data recorded on the memory card. This data cannot be restored.

Be sure to back up any important data to a computer or other storage location. Do not insert anything other than the compliant size of memory card into the memory card slot. Otherwise, a malfunction may result. When inserting or ejecting the memory card, be careful to prevent the memory card from popping out and dropping. Before you start recording, make a trial recording to make sure that the camera is working correctly. Turning off the camera or removing the memory card while the REC/Access lamp is lit may cause a malfunction of the memory card.
Be sure to back up any important data to a computer or other storage locations. Check the following when using.
That the terminal cover, memory card and battery pack cover are securely closed. That any foreign matter is not pinched in any of the coversIf any of the covers are not securely closed or any foreign matter gets inside any of the covers, it may result in water entering the inside of the camera.
